This candy glow-in-the-dark pop-up from Gelato Messina and friends blurs the line between food and art. Over 23 days of Vivid, Blacklight – an illuminated and multi-sensory dessert bar beneath the candy path of Gelato Messina – will pop up at Darling Square, near Haymarket. When you step within the black cube designed by Belle Laide Events and Motti & Smith, you’ll see color-changing panels designed using 23-year-old Brisbane-based artist Leans. Messina, Edition Coffee Roasters, Bubble Nini, and Dopa by using Devon all stores at Darling Square’s meals and beverage precinct, have collaborated on a sequence of glow-in-the-dark desserts. Each establishment has created a menu, and four cakes will be made available every night of the pageant.
Messina will be serving Dulce-de-lighted (a three-layer dulce de leche gelato cake) and Dr. Evil’s Magic Mushroom cake, which has had a luminescent makeover for the occasion.
