Fast-informal Italian eating place Prima will open on Wednesday in Bethesda, supplying what it calls a health-conscious technique to Italian cuisine. The eating place’s menu will take cognizance of neighborhood veggies, fresh herbs, legumes, and sustainable meat and fish, Schlow Restaurant Group CEO Spiro Papadopoulos said in an email.

The Bethesda Row eating place will take over the previous Taylor Gourmet space at 7280 Woodmont Ave. Prima is the 12th member of the Schlow Restaurant Group, which incorporates 5 eating places in Washington, D.C., such as Alta Strada, Casolare, and The Riggsby. Chef Michael Schlow is a James Beard Foundation “Best Chef in the Northeast” award recipient. He has made appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” “Good Morning America,” and “The Rachel Ray Show,” among others.

Prima is “Schlow’s tackle Italian vegetable-centered, speedy-casual dining,” Papadopoulos said. Prima bowls are $12, and customizable ones start at $10, with the very last charge relying on what’s included, Papadopoulos said. Italian Cuisine is a good deal more regional and varied than many people imagine. It is simple to suppose that some pasta, a few marinara sauces, a crust of Italian bread, and a pitcher of wine start and give up Italian delicacies, specifically if you grew up in the United States.

There is a good deal more than purple sauce and starch on the agenda for most Italian regional cuisines, and with all of the diverse areas and cultures within the boot on the ocean. From the snow-capped north to the solar, sopping wet islands of the Mediterranean, Italian cuisine is as varied as the landscape. Tuscany is one of the gems of northern Italy, and heaps of travelers flock to this beautiful location each year. Tuscany is sought out for its simple yet delicious dishes, seasoned sparingly with basil, parsley, and thyme. Tuscan bread and a touch little bit of olive oil is a big part of the seafood dishes of the Tuscan area.

Abruzzo, a bit-recognized treasure within the Middle Eastern section of the boot, mixes chili peppers into nearly all of their dishes. Like many other areas in Italy, there’s a combination of mountain and seafood dishes. Although pasta is mostly a major dish in many countries, in this and many areas of Italy, it’s far more likely to be served as an hors d’oeuvres. Most of the cooks inside the Abruzzo location are skilled handy rolling their own filled pasta, and crepes are utilized in meat dishes, rolled in savory sauces, or added to broths. Polenta is as prevalent in this part of Italy as pasta, and the local sausages are a number of the nicest you’ll come across.
